The Woolworths Ashfield redevelopment transformed the site of a burnt-down furniture store into a modern supermarket within one of Sydney’s busiest inner-west corridors. The project presented significant civil design challenges due to the site’s age, steep topography, and proximity to the M4 extension.
Diversi Consulting were engaged to provide full civil design services, including bulk earthworks, stormwater and drainage design, pavement and car park layouts, and access management for both customers and delivery vehicles. The work required close coordination with Woolworths, architects Scott Carver (now Studio SC), and government authorities due to partial site acquisition during the project.
A key focus of the design was maintaining safe and efficient traffic flow on and off the site, integrating delivery and customer access within tight urban constraints.
The project was also a pivotal point for Diversi Consulting, strengthening long-term industry relationships and led to future collaborations with Woolworths project management staff on subsequent developments.
