Data Centre Civil Design

Project Overview

Diversi Consulting was engaged to provide civil engineering design services for a data centre development within an industrial precinct in NSW south of Sydney.

The project involved the delivery of civil infrastructure to support a high-security, high-load data centre facility, with a strong focus on servicing, reliability and long-term operational performance.

Data centre projects present unique civil engineering challenges, requiring early coordination, careful planning and robust design to support critical infrastructure within constrained industrial environments.

Scope of Works

Diversi Consulting provided civil engineering design services for the project, including:

  • Site layout and civil infrastructure planning
  • Internal road and access design for service and maintenance vehicles
  • Site grading and earthworks design
  • Stormwater drainage design
  • On-site detention (OSD) and water management
  • Coordination with electrical, building and services infrastructure

Key Project Considerations

The project required careful consideration of several critical factors, including:

  • Integration with high-capacity electrical infrastructure
  • Servicing and access requirements for ongoing operations
  • Managing stormwater and detention within a constrained industrial site
  • Coordination across multiple disciplines at an early stage of design
  • Sensitivity around site security and operational confidentiality

Early civil input was critical to resolving constraints, supporting efficient site planning and reducing downstream redesign risk.

Outcome

Diversi Consulting delivered a practical and coordinated civil engineering solution that supported the operational requirements of a data centre environment, while addressing site constraints and infrastructure complexity.

The early-stage civil design played a key role in enabling informed decision-making, efficient approvals and a buildable outcome aligned with long-term operational needs.
