Diversi Consulting provided civil engineering design services for the upgrade of GrainCorp’s port truck delivery and marshalling facility at Shellharbour, NSW.
Following operational changes to the port area and grain loading facilities, the project focused on improving heavy vehicle access, truck queuing efficiency and overall operational performance within a constrained, live port environment.
The project site covered approximately 2 hectares, extending around 450 metres in length and 50 metres in width, located between Farrer Road and the existing grain silo infrastructure.
Scope of Works
The upgrade included:
– Heavy-duty pavements for truck parking and marshalling areas
– Truck weighbridge facilities
– A new office building and amenities
– Associated civil works and earthworks infrastructure
Diversi Consulting’s Role
Diversi Consulting was engaged to deliver the full civil engineering design for the upgraded facility, including:
– Geometric design of internal roadways and heavy vehicle movement areas
– Detailed site grading design
– Heavy-duty pavement design for high-frequency heavy vehicle loading
– Stormwater drainage design
– On-site detention (OSD) design
The design required careful coordination between an arterial road, existing grain silo operations and ongoing port activities, while maintaining safe and efficient truck movements.
Outcome
Diversi Consulting delivered a practical and coordinated civil engineering solution that supported GrainCorp’s operational requirements, maximised use of the constrained site, and provided a durable and efficient truck delivery and marshalling facility aligned with long-term port operations.
